HTML read in configuration files

I am considering using libGDX for an online game. One requirement is that I need to be able to read in some configuration files during initialization of the game that will determine some game play parameters. Am I able to include some text files, in the assets folder, that my code would have access to at runtime?

Yes, but you would need to add something yourself that would process the HTML into what you want. GitHub may have an open source solution for the HTML. Otherwise, LibGDX offers a fairly nice way of accessing files. Typically, you can take advantage of a user's home directory to access files that you may want to modify over time, like for saving a user's progress, but that step also takes a little bit of extra knowledge to achieve. Files inside a game build itself remain "read-only".
