working tokomak physics!

Postby chris_c » Thu Jan 05, 2012 12:10 pm

first have a good laugh at my expense http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUpcGItJrec
then see it working on the desktop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaJPfeEpvOA
and also on my phone :-o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu0cTLWvHFE

Basically there is little more wrapped than the very basics that allow me to collide box's and a terrain mesh!

I've ended up going with Tokamak for a number of reasons, it very lightweight (when compared with monsters like bullet!)
lets face it many games probably use less than a 1/3 of the functionality possible in the dynamics lib they are using....
Its very fast
It works when removed from its build system (bullet used to be easy to get working out of its build system...)

I need to wrap a whole lot more before its even vaguely ready for people to test, and it will probably take me some fair time to get
there as I'm only one person and time is limited!

Even if you're not a jni "expert" (never trust someone who claims to be an expert ;) ) there's a bunch of other things need doing
for example fast textured box, cylinder, sphere renderers / documentation / usage examples / window dll compiler (urgh) the list goes on!!!

If anyone does have free time and feels inspired to help out with what I feel with be a very useful project, I would very much
appreciate you posting here (maybe pm me too as I dont seem to be getting board notifications ?)

Enjoy the vids!

Nice! Shame I can't help, but my time is extremely limited right now . And I really don't know much about 3D and JNI. :)
Have you read the latest post on badlogic blog? There was sth about JNI.

that's my eventual aim

I've got the primitives wrapped, in a basic way, I just need to look at sensors and so forth.

I'm also considering encapsulating part of one of the demos to provide a car class....
(sucker for punishment i know...!)
