Here's how Unity copes with lighting for forward rendering (as oposed to deferred rendering, which is not possible for us)

so i guess our plan makes sense. multiple passes for more per pixel lights are a no go i'd say.

Also, Unity only supports a single directional light in forward rendering. That's a Pro feature, wonder how many folks have been bitten by that.
