GWT Loading Screen - nicer?

Postby noblemaster » Sun May 05, 2013 6:59 am

Has anybody spent some time trying to improve the GWT loading screen? It works fine, but as mentioned in the Wiki it's "very simple". I think just a small improvement might go a long way! :D

PS: I searched the forums, but couldn't find anything related to it.

Someone somewhere had mentioned wanting to work on a new loading screen. I think it was in a pull request. I agree it could be better.

In other news, I made the loader asynchronous so it can download multiple assets at once. I'll commit after a bit more testing.

I can, but I can't guarantee it will be a whole lot nicer.

If anyone wants to try the asynchronous preloader, I have both the current and the asynchronous version on my site for comparison. If any of y'all want to give it a shot and see if 1) it works and 2) it actually is faster (it is for me but I've said too many times - "Hmm, it works right on my machine" to be totally comfortable with my own assessment).

It works! Also, it appears to be a lot faster than the original method :D

Yes, looks a lot better. :D I don't quite like though how the bar stretches. How about this one (free download):

How the bar stretches? Not sure what you mean. It fills the width of the game area but that can be changed very easily.
