Does anyone have video tutorials that are up to date?

Postby FutureGameDev » Thu Jan 16, 2020 12:12 am

I followed a flappy bird tutorial but some of the code just doesn't work any more. I went on other forums and discords and they won't answer as to why it isn't working. I'm trying to figure out how to use libgdx but reading documentation is difficult to read if there isn't a tutorial along with it. I'm new to java, I can get by with it, but I'm not advanced by any means. All help is appreciated.

There are a couple of sources I can recommend. As you get use to Java, GitHub becomes a fairly strong source for code. is useful for answering programming questions in general, although some folks will complain about it for good reason.

You may notice that this forum has a couple of branches for books about LibGDX. Those are good places to start. They won't teach you everything. That's your job honestly. However, while not all of the old code will work, a lot of it still does in the context of the newest code. Sometimes method blocks of a class file will change a little.

It's very difficult to find just one project that encompasses everything LibGDX can offer, although I personally know of none that do so. I will try to pull up a couple of decent reference projects here soon....

I know you asked for a video tutorial, but.....
Link 1) below is fairly decent if you don't mind translating some of the Spanish to English. Otherwise, Links 2) and 3) might be decent and come in video. Link 4) is much more advanced and raw for when you get there. That last one may possibly not compile for you, but the code is very good to reference.
